Homemade Hummus

1 can of garbanzo beans / chickpeas

1 tbsp olive oil*

splash of lemon juice

spices to taste

Drain your chickpeas in a colander, but reserve a little bit of the liquid.  Transfer them to your food processer or blender.  Add oil, lemon juice, and spice of choice and blend until a smooth paste forms.  Add the reserved liquid if it’s a little dry.

Spice suggestions: paprika, ground cumin, italian spices, or black pepper.  You can always try garlic … roasted or raw.  Have fun with it.

*Tahini Oil – Hummus purchased from the store has Tahini or Sesame oil.  I’ve never bougth it, but I’m sure it’s great if it’s in your budget.  Olive oil is a great alternative.
